ISO 45001:2018 Requirements
The Safety Management System standard ISO 45001:2018 requires businesses to bring a risk-based and consultative approach to the management of health and safety in the workplace. A systematic identification of workplace hazards that can impact health and safety, selection of controls using the hierarchy of controls and the persistent application of those controls. Workers are to be consulted and engaged in these processes including induction and regular opportunities to have their say. The business also needs to have processes to ensure compliance with legal obligations, respond to incidents, effectively respond to emergencies and learn from mistakes and near misses.
The Safety Management System standard ISO 45001:2018 also contains several mandatory elements of the management framework including:
